Microsoft Kinect 'to sell out by Christmas'

Games and electronic retailers are expecting a rush of buyers desperate to get their hands on Kinect. Pre-orders for the control-free motion-sensing games system, which plugs in to the Xbox 360, have already been shipped.

Best Buy UK, the consumer electronics retailer, says it expects the Kinect to be one of the most popular products in the run up to Christmas.

"We are preparing ourselves for brisk demand for the Kinect, especially with Christmas present-buying now on most people’s minds," said Harry Parmer, Best Buy's commercial director. "Availability is very limited and on a first-come, first-served basis, but we expect deliveries between now and Christmas."
